Having been asked by friends and a professor to create/ compile a 3D animation of a hatching butterfly for a video project, I carried out this small project during my master degree. The hatching animation and the butterfly itself are based on reference pictures and videos.

About: The requirement was to create a 10 second video of a realistic butterfly hatching.

I wanted to go for a certain look for the butterfly, especially since the video project had a certain sadder tone to it. After I did a lot of research on different subtypes of butter- flies I decided to create my own to better match the idea. You can find more information on the character sheet to the left.

Software: Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and 3ds Max.
